Fritz! Box Emergency IP – that’s how it works!

Sometimes it can happen that the Fritz! box via the browser with fritz.box or 192.168.0.0 is no longer accessible. In this case, there is an emergency IP. With this you can get back into the Fritz! Box log in. Here we go:

1. If the Fritz! box is set incorrectly, or the set static IP address was lost, the user interface of the Fritz! Box no longer open. Even entering the address in the browser: fritz.box no longer works. Then the emergency IP of Fritz helps! Box on. It reads: 169.254.1.1

But: Even the emergency IP doesn’t always work immediately. Often the network adapter has to be adjusted accordingly. This works like this:

This way, the network adapter is set correctly so that the Fritz! box can be reached again via the emergency IP. This is especially true if a fixed IP address has been assigned:

1. Press Windows + R. The Run dialog opens.
2. Type and confirm the following command with the enter key: ncpa.cpl
3. Right-click on the network connection that connects the PC to the Fritzbox.
4. Select properties.
5. In the window, select internet protocol, version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on the Properties button.
6. Select the Automatically select THE Obtain IP address option and confirm with OK.
7. If the PC is connected to the Fritz! box, plug it into port 2.
8. Now enter the emergency IP and click on the Fritz! box.

If the access works again, the Fritz! box can be reset. Then remove the network settings in Windows.

If access has not worked, reopen the Internet Protocol 4 settings and proceed like this:

1. For IP address enter this IP: 169.254.1.2
2. Enter this subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
3. Confirm with the OK button.
4. Restart Windows if necessary.
5. Now about the emergency IP at the Fritz! Box sign up.

Emergency IP: Fritzbox – Set up Apple OS X / MacOS

For Apple OS X or MacOS, do the following:

1. Open the Finder and click on Programs, System Settings, Network.
2. Left to select Ethernet and click on the Button More Options… click.
3. Select Manually under TCP/IP next to IPv4 in the Manual drop-down menu.
4. Enter at the address 169.254.1.2 and enter this address 255.255.0.0 at the subnet mask
5. Confirm with the OK button.
